This festival was created by Thandiswa Mazwai who has long been one of the most influential musicians on the South African music scene. This festival was a woman-only festival. She explained that #AmandlaWomxnFest began as a space of refuge and celebration.

This logo was locally illustrated based on Winnie Mandela fist. Winnie Madikizela Mandela was dubbed the “Mother of the Nation” for her anti-apartheid work.
